Sending your little one to preschool is a major decision in your life. You don't want to send your child just anywhere. However, it can be difficult to determine what school is the best and what one isn't. This is the first step in your child's education. You want it to start strong and stay strong. To make sure your child gets the start they need, avoid making one of the three mistakes below when choosing a preschool. 

Choosing the one closest to your home.

Sure, it might be nice to have a preschool close to your home. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it is in the best interest of your child's education. That doesn't mean you should have to drive an hour or two one way, but you should be a little bit flexible in terms of how close the school has to be in relation to your home.

Not looking beyond public schools.

Many people go with public schools for their little one's education because they think it is the only option available. However, there are other options out there as well. From private schools to charter schools, religious schools and others, you need to explore all of the different options before settling on a final decision. Each school is going to have a different curriculum, so it is important that you understand that right from the beginning. If you want your child to learn from a faith-based standpoint, you need to choose a school that is in line with that.

Ignoring the certifications of the staff.

You want to make sure the staff has the proper licensing and certifications to teach your child. Just because they have a certificate doesn't mean it is current and up-to-date. Spend some time doing a little research to make sure the teacher responsible for your little one has their college degree and knows what it takes to inspire little ones to learn. Make it a point to meet with them and speak to them one-on-one to get a feel for them as an individual.

By not making one of the mistakes above, you can make sure your children get the start they need in life. It only takes a little of your time to do your part and investigate your options, but the results are going to be well worth it in the end. Your child will enjoy learning and engaging with their peers while you rest assured they are getting a solid education every step of the way.
